The Sons of Scotland Annual Trip to Scotland
Each summer, the band takes a trip to Scotland to compete at the World Pipe Band Championships at Glasgow Green, and perform at shows at Castles, breweries, Palaces, parking lots and more - to the great delight of tourists and locals in Edinburgh, and for the band it's truly a highlight for the year.
We strive to work hard and place well at the World Pipe Band Championships at Glasgow Green, Glasgow. It is a tremendous day with over 200 pipe bands competing at every level, and from all over the world. It is truly a spectacular setting for such a grand contest, and we represent Ottawa and Canada very well.
We stay in residence at the University of Edinburgh, and practice in the Meadows just south of Edinburgh Castle.
The 2013 trip will include shows at Blair Atholl and Stirling Castles, The Palace of HolyroodHouse and Edinburgh Castle, and a very special private performance for Her Majesty The Queen and special family guests at Balmoral Castle in Perthshire, Scotland.
We look for sponsors to help us with our annual trips, and 100% of the proceeds go towards helping offset travel costs. We hold shows in Ottawa, and invite you to come along and support us. You can also donate directly to the band through our PayPal account.
