The Caring Canadian Award
The 65th Anniversary of the Normandy Invasion
On June 6, 2009, the band performed at the Canadian War Museum in honour of the 65th Anniversary of the Invasion of Normandy. It meant a lot to Pipe Major Bethany Bisaillion to be able to have the band participate in this event - her own teacher and former Sons of Scotland Pipe Major Morag Jamieson was taught by local piping instructor Sam Scott, who played the pipes pictured at left onto the beach at Normandy on June 6, 1944. It took a great deal of effort and dedication to secure the pipes from the Museum of Civilization and have them put on display for the month of June of 2009, and it was all wonderfully worth it. Members of the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa and other local pipers also joined members of the Sons at the show held at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa. Pipe Major Bisaillion and piper Mary MacDonald played in Normandy to mark the 55th Anniversary of the Invasion.

Perth 200
The Sons of Scotland Pipe Band were honoured to be part of the 200th anniversary of the town of Perth, Ontario and they played alongside friends in the Smiths Falls Gordons Pipe Band, the OPP Pipes and Drums, and members from Durham Regional Police and the Princess of Wales Own Regiment. The parade took them through town to very appreciative crowds, and when the tattoo began, they loved the presentations by the 100th Regiment of Foot and the Samantha Shaw School of Dance. A great day for all.
